{"id":586,"date":"2016-11-11T00:20:29","date_gmt":"2016-11-10T22:20:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.woydt.be\/blog\/?p=586"},"modified":"2024-08-16T23:08:30","modified_gmt":"2024-08-16T22:08:30","slug":"anti-institutionalism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.woydt.be\/blog\/?p=586","title":{"rendered":"Anti-institutionalism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;The traditional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woydt.be\/blog\/?p=588\">institutions<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woydt.be\/blog\/?p=2835\">Western<\/a> world &#8211; the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.woydt.be\/blog\/?p=21\"> state<\/a>, the church, marriage and the family, the university, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woydt.be\/blog\/?p=309\">[trade] union<\/a>, the political <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woydt.be\/blog\/?p=226\">party<\/a>, the voluntary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woydt.be\/blog\/?p=207\">association<\/a>, etc. &#8211; are being castigated as &#8230; structures that inhibit individual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woydt.be\/blog\/?p=501\">liberty<\/a>, creativity, and authenticity. It is a kind of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woydt.be\/blog\/?p=157\">non-rational<\/a> mood that has a deep, often unconscious, influence on many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woydt.be\/blog\/?p=103\">individuals<\/a> in the affluent Western world. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The philosophies and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woydt.be\/blog\/?p=201\">theories<\/a> of Western subjectivism have some sort of anti-rationalism in common. &#8230; But there is a strong paradox at work here. &#8230; Indeed, it is a strange sight to observe businessmen, who in their daily activities are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woydt.be\/blog\/?p=450\">rationally<\/a> inhibited and mentally constrained, throw themselves at the mercy if an organizational guru, who relentlessly strips them of their individual and personal dignity. &#8230; The whole <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woydt.be\/blog\/?p=562\">wellness<\/a> business is a rational business firmly based on rational techniques of psychological manipulation, and on equally rational economic considerations of making profits &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>This anti-institutionalist subjectivism &#8230; is a dangerous mood &#8230; human beings are dependent on well-functioning institutions for their survival as a species. &#8230; An anti-institutional mood floating about in subjectivism must affect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woydt.be\/blog\/?p=141\">man<\/a>&#8216;s capacity to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woydt.be\/blog\/?p=95\">act<\/a> and interact, and eventually reduce man to resignation and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woydt.be\/blog\/?p=643\">passive<\/a>, aesthetic quietism. &#8230; Anti-institutionalism and subjectivism &#8230; can only be indulged in by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woydt.be\/blog\/?p=177\">well-off<\/a> people, who are blind to the inherent dangers &#8230; [It&#8217;s] a decadent phenomenon. &#8230; &#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>aus: Anton G.
