Quotes are “the expression … of the childish instinct to impose litterally on the reader what one had read for one’s own consolation, in place to leave it be the silent and reassuring background of one’s own voice.”
Thomas Mann: Betrachtungen eines Unpolitischen. Berlin 1919: S.XI. (my own improvable translation…)
Welcome to my book of readings,
I admit happily to have fallen for the childish instinct to drown you here in quotes. You will find on these pages (“Maltes Lesebuch“) a lot of texts which are important to me, or which I just found interesting. Every quote is represented on the left hand list by a keyword. On top of that they are also linked among eachother to enable you to jump freely from one to another.
Two smaller sections are added to that “Maltes Notizbuch” or “notes”, my own writings, pamphlets, outbursts…. and “Fragen…“, my (burning?) questions to you, I would love to get answers on…
Happy readings – I hope you will find it pleasant, every email reaction motivates me to continue. With the time I will add more and more texts in other languages than German…
